Hiking trip Lushoto-Mazumbai
Overview
This is the special highlight trekking route in the Usambara mountains because you mostly walk on the small trails, only through the villages and farming areas with spectacular views and natural forest.
Itinerary
Day 1 :
Arrival in Lushoto
Arrive in Lushoto town. Note: Accommodation and meals are not included on this day. Relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 2 :
Irente Viewpoint & Kisasa Waterfalls
After Breakfast, take a walk to Irente view point. While walking to the villages of Irente and Yoghoi you will pass different areas. The hike will lead you through the surroundings of Lushoto town and several local villages. Get an idea about rural life in Tanzania and get into contact with people on the way. Enjoy breathtaking views over the Maasai plains then walk to the beautiful Kisasa waterfalls. Enjoy the shower at the falls then take a transport to Mazumbai forest lodge.
Day 3 :
Mazumbai Forest Exploration
A full day tour in Mazumbai – This day you will have a chance to walk along the tea farm land then enter the Mazumbai forest. This is a special highlight-trekking route in Usambara Mountains because you mostly walk on small trails with real biodiverse natural rain forest. Get the chance to visit the ‘devil’ tree which is surrounded by its roots growing over the ground. Also there will be a chance to see some wild animal like monkey, squirrels, birds and snakes. after this day you can have option of hiking to Bumbuli village where by you will take the transport back to Lushoto (and spend a night) or spend another night in Mazumbai and
Day 4 :
Departure
Take a transport to Soni where you can catch other transports to Moshi - Arusha or Dar es salaam or back to Lushoto town for other plans.
