Overview
Day 1: Lushoto to Mkomazi National Park
Morning:
- Depart from Lushoto town early in the morning after breakfast.
- Drive to Mkomazi National Park (approximately 2-3 hours depending on road conditions).
Mid-morning:
- Arrive at Mkomazi National Park entrance.
- Proceed with park entry formalities and meet with a park ranger or guide.
Late Morning – Afternoon:
- Begin a game drive through the park. Explore the savannah plains and acacia woodlands, keeping an eye out for wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes.
- Visit the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary, where you can learn about rhino conservation efforts (if permitted by park regulations and availability).
Evening:
- Check-in at the lodge or campsite inside the park or nearby. Relax and enjoy dinner.
- Optional night game drive (if available and permitted by the park).
Day 2: Full Day in Mkomazi National Park
Morning:
- Early morning game drive to catch the sunrise and spot wildlife when they are most active.
- Birdwatching opportunities along the riverine habitats and around the lodge/campsite area.
Mid-day:
- Return to the lodge/campsite for breakfast and some leisure time.
- Optional guided nature walk or visit to local communities (if available).
Afternoon:
- Continue exploring Mkomazi with another game drive or visit different parts of the park for varied scenery and wildlife encounters.
Late Afternoon:
- Return to the lodge/campsite for lunch and relaxation.
Evening:
- Sunset game drive or leisure time to enjoy the surroundings.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge/campsite.
Day 3: Departure
Morning:
- Early morning game drive or nature walk (optional).
- Breakfast at the lodge/campsite.
Mid-morning:
- Check out from the lodge/campsite.
- Depart from Mkomazi National Park and drive back to Lushoto town.
Afternoon:
- Arrive in Lushoto town by early afternoon, concluding the tour.
